SVT's confirmed (many times actually) speed is 143, most speedos are off by 5, 10, 15 mph at speeds over 100mph...

that is why i said "that is what the speedo said"...i know those things are off. just wanted to clear up the fact that the wing did effect top speed and that it wasn't because of lack performance.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but wouldn't the fact that the wing is slowing him down be attributed to drag rather than downforce??? I mean the thing is the size of a park bench I'd imagine it would add some serious wind resistance when driving at high speeds.

let me put it like this...the aerofoils on the wing can be adjusted up and down adding more or less downforce(drag) on the car...when the aerofoil is adjusted up then there is more downforce(drag)on the car, when they are adjusted down(which is basically flat) then there is less downforce(drag) on the car...i.e.- with them up he can only go about 120, with them down he can only go about 130, without the wing he was doing 145(what the speedo said)...oh, and since the wing he has done more mods to his car...like i said before, he accelerates like a bat out of hell but once we get past 100 the wing starts to affect him...listen, i'm not the most knowledgeable person in the world but, in my family we have three contour svt's...all with mods. i have seen what each of our cars can do and i have driven all of them to their limits. when something happens to one of our cars we have two other contours to look back on and figure out what the problem is. not to mention we race cars in the scca and my dad races in the bfgoodrich trans am series...so i do believe we have a little experience with racecars. like i said before...i don't know everything in the world but what i do know i share it with you guys hoping i don't get trampeled by all the nonbelievers on our site.

I haven't seen another like it; most have the 3rd light, the center support, or both. I'm typically not such a big fan of 3rd lights in the spoiler, especially when there is one in the rear deck also. Luckily this spoiler has no such light which is why it's still on there. Unlike other spoilers this one doesn't seem to ruin the lines of the car, that being said I probably wouldn't go out and put one on just to have one. I quite like the naked trunk look.

SVTMan15- tell your brother that I love the look of his car. Wing and all. I've been debating the idea of a wing on my ride and those pics have given me some ideas. I'm not saying I would buy that particular wing for my ride but I definately wouldnt put it down. It gives it a different look from all the other SVT's. I say, more power to him.
