I just helped my boss put some Bilstein springs and struts on his Camaro last night (AWESOME ride now

) and I was thinking...when upgrading springs and struts, are there any parts that we need to keep from the stock assembly to put on the new assembly? For example, we had to keep the spring plate/perch and a mount from his stock front suspension to use on his new spring/strut combo.
The reason I ask is this: if we could just buy the new parts, and not bother disassembling the old setup, we could probably save a few hours on this job. (i.e. just need to compress the new springs, and not even bother w/ the old). If this is the case, I think I'd rather pay $xx.xx for some new plates, mounts, etc, not disassemble the old spring/strut, put new spring/struts together w/ new parts, and save a ton of install time. This is all assuming that we need to retain/reuse some parts of the stock suspension.
Does that make sense? I hope so.
