I think SVT#95 is asking exactly how the struts wear out faster. What is the failure mechanism?
Not that I doubt that it does happen, I'm also curious how they wear out with higher spring rates. If the experts don't chime in maybe we could take a look at that "how stuff works" web site to see what the makings of a regular shock and strut are like and figure out some possibilities.
