That's not how it's worded silly...
"Their are no synthetic fluids or break-in fluids in your SVT Contour when it leaves the factory. Note that SVT does not make recommendations about the use of synthetic oils in your vehicle. Should you decide to use synthetic engine oil, we recommend you allow 4000 to 6000 miles (6500km to 9600km) in order to assure complete break-in before switching to synthetic oil."
In other words they are not telling to run it or not to run it. Just when to start using it if you decide to do such...
See if they recommended you to use synthetic and you did not. Then they (the dealership really) could use that against you if you had engine problems or failure while using regular dino. So they took the easy/safe way out and recommended neither oil. Just oil viscosity. Thus leaving the choice of oil to the owner.
Since Synthetic oil is so vastly superior to dino oil it's really not a hard decision to make IMO... Price wise it's just a little more expensive over a years worth of changes. On a multiple thousand dollar car that's a no-brainer in my book... However I never have nor will understand trying to save a few pennies on vehicle maintence versus getting quality parts either. (see that all the time)
