Putting all syn oil doesn't do anymore for your engine than just 1 qt in with your normal oil. Or just add a bottle of duralube or slick 50 in with your normal oil, because all syn oil is is just normal oil with a treatment in it, like duralube or slick 50. Just my 7 cents
wow, do you have to try to say stuff like this? Please, try to understand what you are talking about before making definative comments.
Synthetic oil is a far more consistant chemical composition oil than conventional, and is capable of offering the same protection at lower viscosities, creating less parasitic loss than a conventional oil.
Is it worth it? Depends on your budget.
Does it have noticable benefits? Yes.
Should you switch to synthetic on a higher mileage engine? You can always give it a try, conventional oils tend to swell gaskets and seals more than a synthetic, so occasionally a higher mileage engine will leak a little after switching to synthetic, but if your engine is in good shape, it shouldn't be an issue. And even if it is, you can always switch back at your next oil change.
