Just from my friends experience with his KYB's I'd stay away from them. Just this week we had to replace his front right shock because it was blown. It has only been on his 91 SE-R for only a year. So I could see them getting blown left and right on a 3100 lb car.
Current Cars:
2000 CSVT #398 / 2150 - TRed
85 CRX si with a suspension harder then Ron Jeremy on Viagra.

Another option: Leave it stock...unless you feel you need to lower it. I've dropped several vehicles with Eibach springs, and they look great, but the ride always suffers.
My opinion: Stock or Bat kit for a one inch drop which is a good compromise.

I'd go with the BAT Euro kit, personally. Eibach lowers too much (IMHO) and the ride is very, very stiff.

I'd go with the entire BAT kit. Struts & Springs.

Thanks Guys. I'm considering this same setup. I anxiously await your impressions.

My friend also has a 91 SE-R with KYB's...been on for about 2 years now with no problems at all. Maybe you're friend just got a bad strut?
