The other end has another smaller piece of metal attached with another bolt.

So on one end you just have the hole where you use the stock bolt. And on the other end you have another hole drilled through w/ another piece of metal(W/ hole in it). They act as a clamp to the stock (Welded in plate).

Is that any clearer...I wish I would have taken pictures of it!

Essentially you're pinching the old backing plate. That is not sufficient. YOu SHOULD weld it in!!!

Well then you might want to speak to Terry because he is the one who suggested it. I posed the same questions to him and he said it was tested on a car and that it held up just fine?

In essence it should be OK. I am just weary of it as it puts all the lods on the old backing plate whereas welding it on transfer a lot of load directly to the subframe as well.

Actually thats what I was thinking when Terry explained to me how to install them. I was more worried they would slide out if enough stress was put on them. But I put my doubts aside when Terry told me they would be fine, since I figure he knows alot more than me wink

And really how different is it than the stock setup. The only part I ever heard of failing was the actual bushing bracket bending.

I'll keep running them for now and keep you guys informed on what problems, if any, I run into.

Thanks for the help

I have installed two aussie bars now and haven't had to move the gas tank on either of them.

I'm still enjoying mine. laugh

i have some positive and negative things to say about this bar. first off it is on a 95 SE. i have had my bar on for almost a year now. it was one of the bars from the first shipment. well up until about 2 weeks ago it was doing just as everyone else had said it was doing. but when i put mine in i just bent the stoch brackets and usd them with no reinforcements. well the bracket broke and now i have to remove the tank so i can get them beefed up at the weld shop. that tank is giving me big probs. removing it. it is raining out now but hopefully when i get back from class it should be ok to finish from yesterday. i als ran over one of the jack covers so if anyone knows where i can get one for the SVT skirts that would be cool.
sorry for the length.

Ben you DO NOT have to remove the tank to weld in the new brackets. Unless your thinking of using an Oxy-Acetylene torch you won't set you car on fire. A MIG welder is safe to use as you are at least 5" awayfrom the tank where the welds end.
