I was thinking about picking up a set of Eibachs, but now I am debating if I should get GC's instead. I like the adjustable height and all, but everyone that seems to be buying them are getting the Koni's also. Are those going to mess up anything worse than the Eibachs?? Also does anyone have 18's on their SVT with only Eibachs or GC's? How severe is the rubbing? I have heard that there isn't any rubbing if you have the Konis. Any info would be helpful, Thanks.

Hey, in my opinion, i would go with GC over the Eibachs. I would even go with H&R's before Eibachs. From what i have seen the Eibachs make the back look heavy. I know gr8ride has 18's or 19's on his SVT with the GC, so wait for him to reply, or drop him a pm. I dont really know if they will mess anything up with stock struts tho...

Rubbing will only occur with a wider wheel (8 inch) or the wrong offset. Your optimal wheel width should be 7.5" with a 42mm offset. If you run any more positive offset, you may rub. My car has 18x8's, it rubs in the back with H&R's and Koni's. I also ran the stock shocks with the H&R's, and it rubbed a little more. I think the myth behind Koni's is just because they can be stiffened up, so the suspension doesn't travel as quickly, therefore, not allowing it to rub as often. But it will rub with Koni's if you have the wrong width and/or offset.

Dion, are you saying that I wouldn't get any rubbing if I would run aftermarket springs with the 7.5" width wheel? I know that the Koni's make the car a lot stiffer, but I was just wondering how bad the rub would be without having them. I don't want any rubbing if possible? Thanks for all the info so far!

i don't know if this helps, but i got H&R on stock struts and 17x7 wheels 42mm offset and have no rubbing in rear even with a fully loaded trunk. it ony rubbed once on me in the front but i was driving really fast on a bumpy curvy road.
i think you should be fine.

Keith.... I'm pretty sure you won't rub with a 7.5" wheel, but keep in mind that the offset also counts. One guy here in so. cal has a 7.5" wheel with a 37mm offset, it rubs, another one put on a 7.5" wheel with a 42mm offset, it didn't rub. Both were Axis wheels, both were 18's. Both cars run stock shocks with H&R springs.

I have 17x7.5's with Konis/Eibachs and they DO rub, but only if I have passengers in the back or I hit a big bump. BTW I'm running 235/40s

Pultec 17 x 7.5 rims Yokohama Paradas 215/40/17 Eibach's (which I love) And stock struts (badly needing new koni's)
You can also shave the inside of the wheel well, to eliminate some rubbing.

really stupid novice question. what exactly does the inside wheel well shaving consist of? is it cutting away that rubbery, plastic-type towards the bottom of the wheel well. won't that allow more dirt to enter up into the car.
...and yes, I did SEARCH first before asking.
