Stazi or anyone else in the know,

Can JB Weld be used to stick the backing plate to the stock plate versus actually welding them together. That would take alot of the hassle out of installing the backing plates.

Thanks,

George

Nowhere near strong enough, it'll break over the first bump. Think about it, if the sway bar is stiff enough to tear metal, would glue work?

Just get it welded in and be confident.

Stazi,

Thanks for settling that matter. Can I just drill the hole in the stock plate, use both bolts to tie the stock and backing plates together and then drive somewhere to get it welded or do I have to do it in exactly the order you listed in your instructions.

Thanks,

George

You can, but you'll have to remove the brackets and bushings for welding or the poly will melt.

Stazi,

I figured as much. I just didn't know if there were any issues driving anywhere with the plates simply bolted together before they were welded. I'm using the Energy suspension bushings that Terry recommended with the zerk fitting. Hopefully I can take care of two birds with one stone.

Thanks for everything you're doing for us.

George

I hope you got the "small" sized bushings as the large ones WON'T work as they try to locate the bar in a postiion that isn't possible due to the location of the subframe.

Stazi,

I have the ES bushing and bracket under the part number 9.5157. It is shown own this page:

sway bar bushings

The web page has the dimensions listed along with a drawing for the two types they have. Hopefully I have the right one.

Thanks,

George

That's too small in diameter for the Aussiebar. You'd need the 9.5160 for an Aussiebar (15/16").

All the same I think that those bushings may still sit the Aussiebar too far down and cause it to hit the subframe. The 9.5128 would be better.

If you need to have a grease fiting, add one yourself. That's what I did for my bushings!

Stazi,

I have the "22mm" BAT bar that only measures about 20mm so hopefully the brackets that I have will work for me. I'll crawl under tonight and take a look. Hopefully your backing plates will arrive today and maybe I can get things taken care of tomorrow.
