Despite asking several people, the answer seems to hover abound 50/50 yes/no.
So maybe here I get a bunch of answers from better informed people.

Are the springs and struts the same on the SVT and SE? Would a set of springs from an SVT be an upgrade for my 98.5 SE?
I just bought the ST200 struts from BAT and wonder if I should look for a set of SVT springs from someone who has upgraded to install at the same time.

Thanks,
Dave

I believe the springs are the same on later years (98+) but the struts are valved differently. 1st gen S&S are stiffer but the skid pad numbers are very close.

Don't know about your car, but my early SE has the stiffest springs of any Contique (SVT included). Apparently, the strut valving is the same for the early SE's and the SVT's. Check the FAQ section, specifications IIRC.

The write ups said that the 98SVT used SOFTER than SE (from the zetec?) springs up front along with firmer shock valving to reduce understeer (along with the smaller front antiroll bar). The 99 SVT used even firmer shock valving all around to reduce brake dive & front lift on acceleration IIRC. I think the SVT struts are not shared with any SE, though the rear struts are I believe - though I have NOT looked to varify this.

I can verify that my struts are specifically marked as "SVT" exclusive since they are sitting in my garage as I type this reply.
The springs still retain their assembly line tags, but they do not contain any SVT specific identification.

But it was my understanding both the springs & struts were unique to the SVT model. At least that is what all of my factory literature claims.

For the 98+ SE/LS V6 MTX's and SVT's the front springs are the same. Rear springs on the Ls V6 MTX and SVT are the same, rear springs on the SE V6 MTX and ATX are the same.

The mailing list archives are down right now, but check tomrrow or the next day, and look at this message . It explains what I just summarized above, showing codes and such for the springs.

eek I think I'm more confused than when I started! confused
From what I can see, I have the same front springs as an SVT, (Code NYHN BTW) and no one is sure yet on the rear, though it seems they might be the same. So a set of used SVT springs would likely not be any improvement for me.
Thanks everyone!
Dave

SPR = ARCB for 98 Mystique LS v-6 ATX No tags on frt. My frt springs or the damping is soft. The rears ride nice but carring capacity is terrible in the rear.
