Yeah Mysticali is right. I believe Timothy Kirk had the Sho-shop bar in when he broke a strut and he firmly believed it to be a result of the strut tower bar. -Not completely sure it was Tim but you get the idea

So, what kind of front STB is safe? the sparco? (ctamotosports.com) the sho-shop? (spmotorsports.com) the OMP? (scracing.net). the sparco and omp seem to be of the same design. the sho-shop looks like it attaches directly to the top of the struts. which one is safe?

I'd check for fitment before you buy. I've got a Sparco front STB and it does not fit properly. It rubs on the EGR valve and the inner hood ribbing. Buy the rear STB first-it makes a BIG improvement.

I have (had) the SHO-SHOP Front STB. I know one of your members claims it broke his strut, well I would like to differ and we actually did some testing to prove it. Sorry I don't have "official" results.
Anyhow the "design" of SHO-SHOP brace IMO is better than all other braces currently available BUT the material used to build it is very poor. I destroyed my bar where it attaches to the struts. There is NO I repeat NO damage to the strut whatsowever, not even a chewed thread on the bolt. The strut tower bolt is made of a much stronger steel then the brace is, so the brace braking that bolt is not something i forsee, perhaps this member had something else go wrong which caused the bolt to break i'm not sure and i can't comment on that. Now as for why I think it's better design, is because this brace holds the struts into the towers firmly then connects it all together. The other braces still use the stock cups for the struts and it allows them to float as much as 1/2" side to side in the tower... NOT GOOD... btw all our testing was done with a reputable race driver who drives a cougar and does most of his own development for racing products. He is also currently working on (prototype already built) a front STB which will tie the struts to the towers then connect them both together. Basically take a SHO-SHOP and meld it to an OMP brace. A future add-on to this piece is also in planning which would connect the towers to the front clip of the car (radiator bracket) providing even more rigidity up front.
