OK, I have the 1995 speedometer and was wondering if I could replace it with a newer one with a tach and all that other great stuff? If anyone has done this or knows someone who has please let me know. Feel free to email me with the sunject: Contour. Otherwise I will delete it. Thank you for your help. :p

I'm sure that I have read about swaping for the gauge cluster that includes a tach so it might help to do a search. It has been done, but I don't remember what the limitations were.

You are limited to the 1995 model year because you have a speedometer cable.

96 and newer is an electronic sensor/gauge arrangement.

i have a 96 contour sport, so are you saying i could upgrade my dash? if so, how different would it be, and how much would it cost to buy and install? thanks

I just want a tach that looks stock without the dumb aftermarket ones. I mean they are cool and all but everyone is getting them. I want it to look stock. Maybe I should call my dealership. Maybe they can have the answers to my questions. Thank you all for your help and keep the info coming.

Same engine and same speedo style. Can be from a Contour or Mystique, auto or 5spd. Installation shouldn't be that tough, something you can do in your driveway w/ a 6 pack and have a few left over. Getting the odometer set right is something that a shop should do and you'll have a sticker put on your door to indicate the correct milage.
