I know alot of people have had this and that the SVT contour has a history of doing it.
Funny story - I had the car in the paper for sale. Figured I'd leave it in for two weeks and if it sold, great. If it didn't, no big deal. A week and a half goes by and no calls.
Finally the fone rings and my wife comes running with a huge grin saying, "It's someone calling about your car!" I get on the fone and the guy says, "You the guy with the SVT contour for sale?" "Why yes", I reply, preparing my sales/description speech. Then he says, "You got a problem with your throttle hanging?"
Anyway, my throttle would hang at whatever rpm I shifted at, 3000 for example. As soon as I pushed in the clutch, the rpm's would rise about 5-7 hundred, hang there for about 4-8 seconds, then finally fall. Three throttle bodys later, the problem was gone.
