Some guy that my friend knows thinks that his Probe GT has a Duratec Engine in it. He also thinks it's the same engine that is in a Contour SVT. I know its not the same engine that's in a SVT Contour and also last time I checked it's the same engine that is in a Mazda MX6. Can someone tell me if I'm right or wrong

I think you are correct. The probe has been based on the mx-6 platform for a while, so it should have the same driveline as the mx-6. From what i can find, the pgt and mx-6 have 2.5l v6 from mazda, but it does look a lot like the duratech with different intake manafold on it. I think this warrnts further investigation, as there are a lot of parts out there for the probe and mx-6

Also the escort and the protege share, or used to share, the same underpinnings. But i think the protege borowed the dirvetrain from the escort.
