Darrel and I were discussing the possiblility of hitting the drag strip (Speedworld) in a few weeks. I am interested to see how my car runs now... I have recently removed my butterflies, added a Quiafe, and added a Centerforce clutch. The butt dyno asys Hell-Yeah! YOu can never tell from that though... Just wanted to give a heads up and extend an early invite.

This track isn't nearly as packed as I've heard Firebird is. Ask Po-Jay; he's been to both.

If you go to firebird on a thursday night it's usually not very packed at all. If you get there right when they start around 6pm you can get about 10 or more runs in before 7. I've been out to speedworld and it is just a lot more ghetto than firebird is. Wed. nights it's just a bunch of kids that all think they are sooo much faster than everyone else. Plus, if you want to race some actual competition firebird is a much better track to race at. If you guys came to sport compact night out here at firebird you guys would beat up on a lot of cars cause i'd say the average is about a 15.8-16.2 for a lot of the cars there. and, firebird is actually working to make a team dragracing event where all the different clubs can race for a trophy and all that. Team dezert focus usually has at least 3 cars out there every thursday night, and we've actually had up to 10 cars out there running before. Whatever you do, don't go out to firebird on a friday night and wanna race. It's pointless cause then it's reeeeeaally packed and you may get in 4 runs in the course of a whole night. Get a few of you guys out there to firebird and they'll announce your clubs name and give you guys some recognition. You know you wanna come out and beat up some hondas :p

My car is still in the shop but I will be representing soon on Thursdays.

I am interested in making a trip to the drags, though I've never actually made any runs before.
I am going to be leaving for Missouri on May 29th, so I would have to get it done before then.
I can't be too hard on it so that I don't break it before I leave though.

DDavis, I drew up another circuit to defeat the speed governor, but I need to know some information before it is proven accurate. Do you know what the signal from the trans looks like? I assumed it is a square wave that pulses once for every wheel rotation. If you have a meter that can measure frequency, then you could jack up one wheel, put the car in gear, and measure the frequency at a certain speed, like 20 mph. That will tell me what frequency to set the circuit at. While you are at it, I need to know the circumference of your wheel. Just use a tape measure around it so I know how many rotations the wheel makes at certain speeds. If you give me this info, then I can finish the schematic and mail it to you.
