Hi,

I'm new to the forum... was hoping someone could recommend a good air conditioning shop in the Phoenix area to take the Contour to. I think it's just low on gas, since it cools, but it doesn't get cold enough to cut in in the summer.

Thanks!

Welcome to the board. D.Davis will be thrilled there is another zetec on the AZ forum. I just had the dealer check mine for summer and have never refilled so I am no help. The contour does have a bigger than normal dash so I would say get a windshield screen to keep the dash and vents cool to help.

If it's true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?

Yep, Kaiser's right; another Zetec has me thrilled smile

As far as the A/C goes, I say do it yourself. You can get everything you need from Wal-Mart for about $25 and it takes maybe 20 minutes. If you need details, let me know and I can give you the play-by-play on how to do it.

Let me ask you a quick question, though. Does your compressor cycle on/off quite a bit (like every 15 seconds or so)? If not and your system is low, you'll only need about 8 to 10 ozs. of R134a. If your compressor is cycling, you'll need more like 16 ozs. (I know, I've had a leaky system before.) I have the hoses and guages. If you wanted to pick up a can of refrigerant and meet somewhere we can fill it on the spot.

And welcome to the board! I was getting lonely being the only 4-banger smile

Maybe Keith can put this pre-98 Zetec to good use.

EDIT: Hey, I just noticed it's MTX, also. Ever thought about taking it to run the 1/4?

Thanks for the reply's and welcoming

Keith as in Street Flight Keith?

I went to their original location when they had just opened up shop to have my Mustang dyno-tuned. I've heard they've moved since then, though...

Nice numbers on you zetec!!! is that at the wheels?

ya, the Contour is my girlfriends, but we've been together forever, so I like to think it's mine, too!! hehehe We love this car, though. It is bone stock, but tight as a drum, and a blast to drive. We'd really like to get the 7 spoke SE wheels for it and some SE side skirts, as well as lower her down some (girlfriends car, so it won't be slammed)

My brother has a ZX2 5-speed, so I'm gettin to love these zetecs... I like actually having torque in a 4 cylinder!!!

That's a really nice offer about meeting and charging the air. I appreciate that! I forgot I can just waltz into any store and pick that stuff up... I'm used to the mustangs "outlaw" gas.

I don't think the compressor is cycling when it's running because I can't feel it click on and back off... but then again, haven't taken the time yet to pop the hood while the air's on and see for sure. I think it prob just needs a top-off.

I'll let ya know if I'll need to take you up on that offer, though. Thanks again!!

Yep, that's the one smile He's developing a cold air intake for the Zetec and we've needed a pre-98 to check fitment on. There are slight deviations under the hood between yours and mine and there are no others in the group anymore to compare against.

Yeah, the R134a is just about anywhere. Sounds like you know how to do it, but my info is here if you run into any problems (FYI, the Lo-pressure side of your system is near the battery).

The Zetec is a fun little engine. It isn't quite as nuts as some of the newer 4-bangers coming out, but the good mix of HP and TQ help, I think.

Thanks for the props on the power numbers. I'd like to say I'm just an awesome tuner, but the fact is I think I got lucky and landed a factory freak smile
