Not too surprising. The Camaro is running that piece-of-crap 3.4 (the first year for that engine in that car), which is then ill-advisedly mated to an ATX -- first gear is about all that Camaro had. Once the Mystique got into the high revs, it started making its power and walking away. Additionally, I would be remiss if I didn't point out that the Camaro is 4 years older than the Mystique. Had the Camaro been a '98, it would have been the well-developed 3.8, and the outcome would have been exactly the opposite. The 3.8 responds well to the ATX and even better to the 5-speed manual.
