I remember years ago someone had mentioned you can take that road all the way to california. actually, you can take it all the way to the I-10. pretty cool. and it should be deserted and smooth. nice run. So I'm assuming this will be an evening or at least late afternoon thing? I am working until 8am the day of. Then I have to drive so it would be like noonish before i could be there.
