Well, awhile back I talked with Tom Lavende (former SVE manager for SVT Tour project) Nice guy, had a long chat - I was trying to find out about any change in oilpans between years (there were none 98-00). I asked him specifically about the motor changes changes between 99 & 00. (There was a post about different cams & forged pistons for 2000 & I was wondering if hotter cams might be available). Tom said, no- "the only change was the reduced displacement and they bumped the compression a little." He said the reason the car "held" HP is because they "got better at tweaking the EEC-V each year". Did'nt specifically say no increase, he said held HP. But I'll say this - from what Ive seen, the 2000s seem to dyno about the same as earlier years. In fact, IMHO, Ive seen enough overlap in stock dynos that I cant honastly say that I have a strong feeling that 99s are stronger than 98s or 00s are stronger than 99s. Which is to say the range of dyno variation or error exceeds any incremental gain each year.
Its OK with me if you believe you have 205 or 210 HP, maybe you do (I wasnt even going to post this). But its probably motor to motor variation.

i was wondering if this could simply be a oversite by the people who released the info? i know that the SHO has many things said about it that are not true. for example, many service manuals(including the official FORD one) state that the SHO has a supercharger, and that the supercharger fluid should be changed at the 60k service. i just thought that some one could have made a mistake along the line.
the only true way to find out is to dyno a stock 99 and a stock 2000 nd find out the difference.
what means the world to me?? breakin laws, racin cars

Actually...I think Dan is right...
There's probably enough variation in the manufacturing process to make any 5hp difference (if one actually exists) negligable...

Hey.. I own a 2000 and don't care what the motor with accessories was dynoed at on a test stand. I care what mine makes and how well I can use it...
We've all seen dynos and there is more than a 5HP difference for stock SVT's of any years. Regardless what years you are comparing.
However... I do find it hard to believe that they would say (in that turbo'd duratech article) there were new SVT cams just to talk out loud though. I don't find it hard to believe they changed specs to accomodate the higher CR. (the 44cc drop in size in nothing compared to this raised CR for tuning) After all they still use the (SVT)engine in europe and knew they would be...
The pistons??? We all know for a fact they are different. The brochure and sell sheet say Forged Alloy, but we know how accurate they can be at times. Would be nice if they were though. Anyone willing to pull one out for us and check?

Just what we need, more segrigation in CEG...but I'm with you if needed. ------------------ Joey 2000 SVT Black #1811 of 2150 MODERATOR www.svtperformance.com If you're in a war, instead of throwing a hand grenade at the enemy, throw one of those small pumpkins. Maybe it'll make everyone think how stupid war is, and while they are thinking, you can throw a real grenade at them.

Sorry, dont want to start a war. The 2000s have 205 HP, different cams, and forged pistons. Ignore my last post.
