As some of you may know, Old Fart Emeritus, Ray McNairy, passed away this morning due to complications with cancer. He was a driving force behind making our cars the best they could be, and was always there to lend a helping hand. He also helped to moderate several of the forums. His humor and wisdom will be sorely missed.

Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Oh man,

My heartfelt prayers go out to him and his family. It is always difficult to take a loss during what is traditionally a festive time of the year, Christmas. I knew he had cancer as he has mentioned in a few posts, but I had no idea it was so advanced. Ray was a very knowledgable guy so far as our cars went, the forums will not be the same without him.

When I first got my Contour back in 1998, I subscribed to the mail list that was (I believe) the forerunner to this forum. Ray was the first person to offer his help and assistance. While this is indeed a great loss here, I'm sure it's a great loss for the world at large.

Totally agreed, Markus. The bell is tolling for all of us, both in the Contour community and in the greater world community.

Indeed, Ray was a founding member of the group, which began as a hobby forum on AOL. He was one of the early subscribers to the original CEG mailing list.

He was the discoverer of the throttle hang fix, the water pump problem, many small mods and improvements, and always ready to help answer questions of any sort.

My first Contour mod? I bought Sophias' old stock alloys from Ray to replace the steel on my '96. Seems like it was just yesterday, not four years past.

I'll miss the O.F., no doubt about it.
