Well said Stazi. I found it very interesting that some people think it's the same as the Mondeo! The Commodore may borrow some styling cues from overseas, but both it and the Falcon are largely designed here. As far as the new Falcon sales go Ford have really got an uphill battle. From the pics of the new Falcon I've seen I think they are going to have to really push it- if this model fails to sell well more than likely they'll pull the pin and not make any more local models. There is a lot of hype (mainly from Ford) about how good it is going to be etc. Go here for more details : http://www.newfalcon.com.au/

the back looks like an awsome truck but the front where the cab and bed meet I just hate it. Too El CaminoISH. I hate El Camino's.

OK , here's a pic of a more run of the mill Falcon: That's what the base model looks like, straight from Ford with no Tickford input. Price is around $36000 drive away. Nowhere near as good..... There is also the XR8 model which is done by Tickford, but not to the same extreme as the TS/TE50. Around $55000 drive away with a 220kW 5.0l V8 I checked on prices for the TE50 - around $59000 drive away for the base model (no fancy brakes etc), and the TS - around $80000 drive away (18" wheels are optional even at this price!) For more info go to http://www.fte.ford.com.au

A couple more pics, this time of the Holden Commodore- the model that is outselling the Falcon by a large margin. A new model Commodore is due out about a month after the new Falcon is released. This is the base model. A 3.8l V6 sourced from Buick is standard, a supercharged version is optional, as well as a 225kW LT1 V8. This is the SS, the competitor for the XR8. It features a 225kW GenIII LT1 V8 standard, with six speed manual or four speed auto trans. Here's a picture of the competitor to the Tickford TS50- the HSV GTS 300, featuring a 300kW LT1 GenIII V8. And here's a pic of the Monaro- which you guys will soon be able to buy as a Pontiac GTO (if all the stories over here are correct)

Are you guys only getting the V8? I've driven a supercharged V6 Commodore (same engine the base model Monaro has over here) and it's a bit agricultural to say the least. Very breathless once you get past 4000rpm and not very sporty sounding. Here's a pic of the 300kW HSV version of the Monaro- probably closer to what you guys will get: Found a pic of the version you guys are supposed to be getting too:

Yup, we are only getting the LS1 5.7L V8...which could be a mistake if the six cylinder would be a lot less expensive. I do not think the car will do very well over here, it does not look "sporty" enough, people would rather buy a Corvette. And for the people not looking at something that "sporty," it is too expensive. Power is not that important here...image is everything, and it looks too close to a Grand Am. If it a great success you'll see why I don't decide what cars to bring over, but I think Pontiac is trying to fill a market niche that doesn't exist. We'll see...
