Whale chunks weighting 20lbs flew for over half a mile.
Many cars were damaged.
One was completely crushed by a 100lb chuck of whale fat.
From when the whale beached to whne they finally blew it up was like 10 days.
In Oregon, the beaches are owned by the Park Service not the DOT like California, Texas, and most other states (excluding Washington).
So it was decided by the Park Service, that the fastest/easiest/cheapest way was to blow the damn thing up.
They were hoping to obliterate it into small pieces, but that didn't quite work out.
My parents were there when it happened and video taped it.
