i understand that 15" diameter means 15" rims. I just wanted to know if some cars can't hold like and 18" diameter or something, that site helped alot though. Can i get my gauges re calibreated or something for cheap if i do get bigger tires. I need to gather some money up though.

i do want my tires to be really thin though, they look nicer, so if someone could give me good specifications for those like 17" or 18". I will have to gather money for that though.

There are various calculators on the web that will tell you the speedometer inaccuracy from whatever size you want. You should try and do 'plus one' sizing.

Plus one from a 205/60R15 is a 205/55R16. The aspect ratio (number after the /) is decreased by 5, the tire size (last number) is increased by one.

Plus One: 205/55R16
Plus Two: 205/50R17
Plus Three 205/45R18

There are some people with 18" wheels, but it is a very close fit and some have even had to modify the wheel wells. I'd say go with 17". Most are running 225/50R17 or 215/45R17 (common tire sizes). Be warned, tires in 17"+ sizes are pricey and not good in snow/rain.

215/40-17
215/40-18

should be pretty thin...don't know about fitting 225's though. Probably too wide with 18's.

Just a side thought going from a 15 to 17-18 inch rims with lower profile tires may give you the look you want and better handling but you will scraffice some ride comfort. keep that in mind when you make your wheel/tire chioce.

Let me see if I can do this without losing anyone. smile

To find out the size of the tires use this equation. I will use the 205/60-15 size.

205 / 25.4 = 8.07 (width in inches)
8.07 / 100 = .0807 (gives the number needed to make the sidewall)
.0807 * 60 = 4.843 (sidewall height in inches)
4.843 * 2 = 9.685 (total sidewall height)
9.685 + 15 = 24.685 (add rim height to sidewall height to get total tire height)

Or you can use this: Metric Tire to Diameter (Inches) Calculator

Using the calculation I posted, shows I am very close. A 205/60-15 comes out to be 24.7" tall, with a section width of 8.1" and a section height of 4.9". laugh
