OK! This is for all those who had something negative to say about my original post. Eat sh*t and suck my tail pipe! Now as for everyone else: my point was this--if you guys can take a 80-110hp(?) SOHC zetec motor and make 200-300hp maybe it would be a little nice to see someone, if not myself, try something with the 220hp DOHC zetec that is used in the focus and do something with the contour. Maybe reach 400+hp. I mean I do consider it different 'cause I dont here anyone else talking about a DOHC engine swap into a contour. I mean I figured with an extra cam you could do a little more. Oh by the way, thanx Terry since you had the only productive post. 'preciate it!

...and another thing...for those of you who mock my lack of knowledge with the contour, screw you. I'm trying to learn here. My experience is with V8 rear wheel drive cars. Front wheel drive performance, especially contours, is new to me. I guess this is you guy's way of saying welcome to the family. Oh it makes me feel welcomed!

Don't you race cars not dynoed horsepower?... I know I do.
And I'm also new to front wheel drive racing...spent a lot of my life around 800hp sprint cars and a couple of alters.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but don't Contours also hold the DOHC, 16v 2.0L Zetec? It looks fairly similiar to the one in our ZX2 from the photos...

every Zetec in every contour, ZX2, and Focus, in america is DOHC. I am pretty sure that Zetec means a DOHC setup period, but I know there were several older versions of the Zetec running around in the UK with different displacements, there is a 1.8L zetec listing in almost every UK Ford tuner catalog. Dr. Boom: there are tons of contour owners who would love to "be different" and get crazy doing all kind of custom engine work(myself included), but most of us own a contour because its cheap, thereforewe don't have 4 large to just throw into our cars. I know that I personaly have invested waaay to much time and money in my contour, I think the running tally is about $5K over the course of the last 3 years.
Ohsigmachi '96 GL MTX Zetec SS (SuperSleeper) Suffice it to say my mod list has become so long that it is just ridiculous

DemonSVT, Madmoles Mondeo is putting out 192 bhp per his last Dyno session. Its fairly obvious you have a lack of knowledge about the Contour and some guys were trying to help you understand a little better but you totally flipped out and started yelling(i.e. CAPS LOCK!!!). Anyway, if you're trying to learn something then shut your trap for just a minute and let someone explain it to you. BTW, Welcome to the CEG

OH, WELL I THOUGHT SINCE ON THE FOCUS SIGHT THAT THEY MADE SUCH A BIG DEAL ABOUT CALLING IT A DOHC ZETEC MOTOR EVERYTIME THEY MENTIONED THAT PARTICULAR VEHICLE(AND SAID NOTHING ABOUT IT AS FAR AS THE BASE FOCUS IS CONCERNED)I THOUGHT IT WAS A SEPERATE ENGINE. MY BAD. OH AND I KNOW YOU GUYS BUY THE CONTOUR CAUSE IT'S CHEAP (MY MUSTANG ONLY COST ME $400.00 I.E. $$$$ FOR PERFORMANCE)BUT IT WOULD STILL BE NICE TO SEE SOMEONE GO ALL OUT AND MAKE A BIGGER FOOTPRINT FOR THE FORD PRODUCTS BESIDES JUST THE FOCUS. I MEAN HONDA HAS MORE THAN ONE CAR DOMINATING THE IMPORT SCENE. WHY CAN'T WE? LOTS OF GUYS BUY CIVICS CAUSE THEY'RE CHEAP BUT THAT DOESN'T STOP THEM FROM PUSHIN' THE ENVELOPE. JUST MY $.02!
