i live in Ohio, they require them, however it doesnt really seem to be inforced. I havent beel pulled over for it yet. Say I do get pulled over, what is the best thing to say to the officer so I do not get a ticket for my ignorance.
I haven't had the plate on my front ever since i got it back in '97. It didn't even have a bracket on it when I got it from FL. I think I've been stopped once, and I just explained to them that the car didn't come with a bracket, "but I am supposed to getting one from the dealer within the next week or whenever it arrives." And I always keep my front plate tucked in the back seat pocket, so I can pull it out for them to show that I even have it.
Been stopped once in the Vette as well. Again, I pull out the plate, but tell them "I just got back from picking up the plate and I'm on my way to my garage/mom's/dad's/etc to put it on." But for the most part, unless they have a stick up their ass, they don't really say anything about it. I think just having it with you is enough probable cause for them to let you be.

I love my Contour to death, but my 'vette is still my #1 baby.
There's money to be made in racing. I should know. I put a lot of it there.
You can make a small fortune in racing. Start with a large one.
How fast do you want to go...how much money do you have?
You can fix a lot of things, but you can't fix stupid!
