OK guys, what are the best places to pick up the K&N oil filters? I've not seen them in any of the usual stores...

Advanced Auto's have them. The first time I bought one, I ordered it via a performance store. Talk about rip-off! They charged me $15 + tax for that one and it took over 2 weeks to get there! Interesting, has it always had one? I last tried one three years ago, and it had no mention of it on the box. Rattled like crazy. Maybe I'll try one again. -Lance

I talked with some guys at a local oil change place, they say the K&N are probably the best, but he admitted that the basic Ford Motorcraft ones are made very well too. He went on to say that for most cars a K&N is overdoing it. Those will work best on very high-horsepower cars. But if you want to be safe, stick with the K&N.

TB Hey guys, thanks for the tip. I've got an Advanced auto about 6 miles down the street from me. Been there several times before, don't remember seeing K&N filters but I'll check again.

Man this blows, there isn't an Advance Auto Parts for like 50 miles near my house! And nowhere else near me carries the K&N oil filter.

-Lance That's a very good question! I know the K&N "Gold" filters have always had them, but I don't think the "gold" filters are over 3 years old. (if that even) Certainly could be the original filters did not... BTW online prices for a K&N oil filter run $8.50-$8.95
