"3)This type of cooler does give a restriction to flow/pressure Vs oil/air type 4)Never hear of many non SVT's with oil pressure probs...just food for thought..."

OK Terry, you are giving me a headache.
frown The oil cooler has been mentioned before as a possiblity because it "holds" a bit of oil - less available to sump? Is this "restriction" a real concern of yours or more hypothetical? Can you test this by measuring oil pressure before & after cooler? The "doughnut" cooler is a Mondeo part as I understand, do Mondeo V6s have more oil related failures? But if its a problem its easy enough to remove.....

The other unique thing about SVTs is that they rev better (light flywheel), and as they make power to redine (better breathing), probably spend more time at higher RPMs. This may have implications on both the oil situation (increased pooling in the heads?) and on the crank harmonics. How many failures are crank whip related and how many are oil starvation?? confused

From Nick (monkeyra)the Mondeos in UK hardly ever have and engine or trans failure.Yes the donut type does have more restriction to flow Vs a conventional/Laminova type...sorry about your headache!!! wink

My main beef with the K&N oil filter was that it does not come equipped with an anti-drainback valve. On my 95, the K&N caused excessive timing chain rattle on cold startup. Disappeared when I went back to the Motorcraft.

What about the oil pan on our cars? I recently read an article in SCC magazine about a guy in a Neon making a sweeping right turn and blew his engine immediately.

The investigation took place and SCC determined that the oil pan had no baffles to prevent air from sucking in during hard cornering, and no windage tray to help with oil return and reduced windage losses.

Coming to conclusions, I am suspecting bearing failure is due to the stock oil pans design.

Yes it most definitely has an Anti-drain back valve.

Modified oil pans and/or baffles have not cured the problem.

Also the stock pan has some small baffles already.

I swear by Fram, used them for years and never had a problem. I also use Valvoline full synthetic 10w30. But that's me.

I wouldn't say that out loud...

FRAM is one of the worst filters on the market!

Go back to the stock filter!!! You will thank yourself for it.

Fram are known to literally come apart.
Go back to the Motorcrafts. If you can afford it, the K&N.
