well i spent about an hour and a half today recontenting the clock in my svt. for the connection on the clock, i used two usb-motherboard, connectors. they fit over the prongs perfectly. i used the cat 5 cable for the rest of the wiring. a note though, in the faq it says to use the red wire connectors to splice into your factory stereo harness. don't use them if you are using the cat 5 cable. the red connectors are too big and will not make a good connection with the cat 5 stranded wires, cause they're so small. i simply used a butt connector and wrapped it in electrical tape.
in any event, the clock works great! show's time even when the car is off. then when you turn on the ignition it lights up. good stuff.

At the risk of sounding stupid...what is it your clock does now that it didn't do before? I'm interested in what you've done, just confused on the outcome.

i have a 98.5 svt contour. it didn't come with a clock. that was one of the things ford decided to remove. in its place they put a blank insert that said "contour" on it with the red pats light next to it.

I did mine too, a 2000 SE.
Of all the things they had to 'decontent' the clock was the worst choice of all. No one should have to look down at the radio to see what time it is. Yeesh. The clock looks much better than the 'Contour' cover plate.
The wiring scheme seemed to be different than what I read in the 'how to's' on this site. I worked it out manually on a 12v lantern battery, then patched it into the back of the radio wiring harness. I used some old internal serial port connectors and the cat 5 cable.

i know this is an old post but will still try. yes, i've noticed the wiring scheme in the howto's is different. can someone tell me the actuall clock connections schematic. i'm going to use the 9pin cable running to cat5 but need to know which connectors will be used on the clock connector. i don't have a test light. If i buy one, how do u use it?
...and yes, I did SEARCH first before asking.

I used a CDROM to Audio cable (from a local computer repair store) to wire up my clock when I recontented mine . It worked out perfectly & it was FREE ! The guy just told me "Good luck" & sent me on my way .
The wiring colors were different for my 2000 SVT also . I just used a test light to find the wires I was looking for & hooked it up acordingly .

Here are the pinouts for the Mondeo Mk2 (97+) clock, don't know if it's the same but they look the same!
Note that the trip computer and clock connectors are the same, it's just that most of them are unused on the clock. I've included all of them here for completeness, only the ones marked (*) need to be wired for a clock install.
1 WH/BK Signal from VSS. 2 Not used. 3 VT Power from Fuse 30. (*) 4 WH/RD Illumination. (*) 5 BK/OG Ground.
