Call my silly here but if there are clear needles available for cars with the same cluster, then why would an SVT owner need to buy anything except the same needles on his car but clear/black?

Can these clear/black needles be had from Ford still?

How about painting the SVT needles instead of replacing them....??

Why do 10¢ LEDs cost 70 bucks, BTW? just curious...can we make something on our own, ala Chris H. or Brad N. and save our money/funnel it to fellow CEGers?

OH, and looks nice hehe!

The "how to" is aimed around the Cougar. The Cougar has solid red plastic needles and the 240SX needles are the closest fit I could find. I'm sure the 240SX needles are not the only and or best choice for the Contour. I use them as a point of refrence cause I know they work. If the needles you have are clear then you DO NOT need the 240SX needles, just buy the kit! As far calibration is concerned my needles are very accurate. I do have a small problem with the fuel gauge needle as it tends to sometimes fall below the resting position when the car is off. Sometimes it will stick and I will have to tap the gauge cluster to free the needle. The other 3 work perfect. I think I just need to reseat the fuel gauge needle as the temp gauge needle is the same size and works perfect. In refrence to the cost, it is high priced for what you are buying. Brad estimates rougly $10 in parts. However as some of you may know Brad and Chris.H made a led kit for their needles. The problem if I understand correctly is it a major PITA to make and to date they have expressed no intrest in making such a kit. As I have said before Import Intelligence is the only people who make this kit and because they "own" the market they can charge what they want. They make a killing off of this kit for sure but unless you have the time and patience to make your own, Import Intelligence is the only source for the glow needles.

I've been real busy but I finally got around to finishing this little project. The pics really only give you the general idea, they look *much* better than the pics reflect. I will be revising the *How To* I wrote for this project before the day is out with some additional info.
