This kit will work with "any" color. You would be replacing your stock needles with those from the a 89-94 Nissan 240 Sx. It's the stock needles that limit your color choice to red. The 240 sx needles open your color choice wide open as they are clear. Any color can be used with these needles but the Indiglo Kit sold by Import Intelligence and it's resellers offer only Red,Blue,Green.

Won't the difference in needle weights between the 2 manufacturers throw off the guage accuracy? If you look on the underside of the Contour needles you will see very tiny brass colored weights. Just wondering. Looks good BTW! smile

Excuse me guys, this is not :IndiGlo" these are "IntelliGlow", done with LED's, not the patented "IndiGlo" process. It is very cool nonetheless!

So why won't it work on contours, my gauges are clear with a backing on the bottom of the needles that will come off very easly

Yes the Cougar's do have red needles. Thats why switching over to the clear 240SX needles is nessicary.

So the question is, would the kit from Import Intell. work on our cars, or would we have to convert to the 240sx?

I am a little confused about all this.

If your stock needles are clear plastic than you need not worry with 240sx needles and can order any color they sell. If your stock needles are red plastic then you must replace them with the 240sx needles that are clear and will allow any color to be used as well.
