Anyone have pics of a silver contour with a black grill trim ring? I started preparing mine to paint it silver and returned the grill minus the trim to the car and it looked kind of cool. I was wondering what it would look like with a black trim ring. I'll see if I can get up a pic of it now without any trim ring.

Can you take off the ring without removing the grill ?

No the ring is part of the grill. You must remove the entire grill and then break the "welds" that hold the trim ring to the grill. The top picture shows just the grill installed without the trim ring.

I thought of this idea about a year ago...when I posted in the aesthetic forum most people advised me against doing it. I would prefer silver paint to match the car, but if you like it, that's all that counts. I think it looks good with the black grills, but looks a little too shiny (maybe try a flat black, but it may just be the picture).
Nevertheless, it looks well done.

Anyway, I was wondering what procedure you followed to paint the chrome, what paint you used and how long you expect it to last. I wanted to paint the chrome strip above the rear reflector black, and I was wondering how to go about this...Thanks!

Looks good! I'm painting my whole grill the same colour of my car.

not really feelin' it. maybe the black headlights will make it better.
