I have autometer's phantom voltage, oil temp and oil pressure gauges and the job was too big for me and my friend so I have a shop doing the install. Anyway they gave me a call saying that they couldnt install the oil pressure because it required drilling to oil pan. Now, I'm not sure but I thought I remembered at least a few people installing the sender somewhere in one of the heads? Am I right...anyway, I'm searching now, but if anyone knows for sure, please let me know...thanks

Cool, thanks alot for the pics. So then the sending unit just fits into the hole there? Anything else I should tell the shop about install?

It just screws right in!There is a hex head plug there,it will need to come out. Then just screw the sender right in!

HWCM, Thanks for you help, I called the shop and they still didn't understand where the pressure unit went, so all the wires are through and eveything, I just have to hook them up and install the sender, so I'll try this tomorrow. One other thing, sorry to keep bothering you with these gauge questions, but they didn't install the oil temp sending unit either. They said that needed to be drilled into the pan too. Does anyone know where I should install this? Thanks for any help I can get.

FWIW - I have yet to install my oil temperature sending unit as well. the gauge is all hooked up and I have plenty of wire inside the engine.....just not sure where to put it. iirc, the oil pan will work but will NOT give you the most accurate readings since it's always cooler in the pan. a friend of mine told me on the oil filter....that's all he told me. he didn't get too detailed. if you figure this out, let us know, i would especially be interested to find out where you put the unit in...

later. smile

Sounds like you need to get mechanics that can actually 'think' out of the box.

hey when you guys installed your oil pressure senders in that location on the engine block did you get any oil leakage? is there a problem with the block being made out of aluminum and the sender not being aluminum with the different rates at which each metal expands when heated? thanks.
