Who cares about the rice factor? Go to any local track event (PCA, BMW, etc) and look at the cars.. 98% of them that have racing seats have only 1.. The people that have 2 either have a passenger usually, or were concerned about looks. But some of these seats aren't cheap (Porsche GT3 seats are $2200 *EACH*), so it's function before form.
At least this Probe guy's passengers get to enjoy some confort. If I picked up my date in a car that had racing seats, I don't think she'd be real happy about that.
Okay, I agree with you about this, BUT...
1. I don't see the pictures of him at an autocross. He is taking photos, so the single seat looks dumb.
2. Don't you think his date going to think he looks stupid driving in a red seat while she sits in a biege one?? So again, single seat rule does not apply here.
