In the gsr vtec kicks in around 4500. But the sencond intake path is not open until 5700, so the actual loundness of the vtec isn't noticible until the second intake path opens up. The b16 and type r have a single port intake manifold, so when the vtec kicks in, they go from quiet to loud. The gsr has more of a 3 step process. It goes from quiet to a nice growl when vtec kicks in, to a loud wail from the intake when the second intake path opens up.
