Anyone done a remote oil filter install? The standard relocation kits don't look like they woild work on our larger diameter filter. Any suggestions? I plan on moving the filter to where the battery was. Not only easier access, but larger capacity.

Talking to someone about this same thing and they brought up some good points. These are not my views, but thought I would share anyway. Our cars oiling system is designed a certain way regarding the filter. Changing location of the filter may cause some issues with oil pressure increasing to get through the plumbing to the remote location. this may cause stress inside the engine to have to move more oil to a higher location. also in regards to filter types, the higher flowing filters may tend to cause oil to circulate quicker out of the top of the engine in the heads. Less oil up there is not a good thing. again, these are comments I was given and not necessarily my views. Maybe Mr. Haines could elaborate on the most efficient oil filter configuration.

I have my oil filter relocated to the passenger side of the engine and have yet to see any problems associated from your source. And I have noticed that when adding oil temp and pressure gauges, they are a cinch to install. And with the install of an Accusump, oil starvation and engine damage will be reduced greatly.

Lady's Man, where did you get your relocation system? is it a different plate that mounts to the engine than the ones offered in relocation kits?

sorry, let me clarify my question... the adapter that replaces the oil filter with a plate that hoses attach to... that's what I'm curious about. The ones in various catalogs look to be a smaller diameter than our filters are. I'm also planning on mounting the filter in the space vacated by the battery.

I got mine from Pegasus Auto Racing. It's a Canton Oil Filter w/remote housing that has a T-bolt mounting bracket for removal purposes. 1/2" NPT bottom inlet and 1/2" NPT for side inlet. No filter spin-offs - just unscrew the cap screws and remove/replace the oil filter - thats it! And guess what - very minimal pressure drops!

Quick question to those who've done this mod. Was anyone able to mount the filter vertically? I'm planning on doing this too, but unable to find the space unless the filter is mounted horizontally, making changes real messy!

Vertical is ok,as to filter size most after market setups use a 'one size fits all' filter so I doubt you will use the std filter when you relocate.May want to consider 'twins' if the set up uses very small filters.
