Actually, the Galant VR4 lived on in outside of the U.S. in the current shape of the Galant- you know, the chiseled-looking one that was introduced in 1997. Well anyway, that car had a twin-turbo'd 2.5 litre V6 and four-wheel drive- needless to say, it was FAST (280 horsepower) doing 0-60 in under 6.0secs with the standard 5-spd auto. I sat in one when Mitsubishi launched it in Singapore in 1999, for just a little more money than the standard 2.5 litre V6 FWD auto, and it was sweeeeet... love the standard Nardi steering wheel.
I also drove a Nissan Skyline 2.5 litre single-turbo coupe, or the "son of GT-R".... again, fast, billet-stiff, and handsome. Again, 280 horsepower. But the nicest car I drove in Singapore in recent memory was the Subaru Legacy B4 RSK. Again, too bad it was an auto!
America is seriously missing out...
