You sure you can buy BOTH completely loaded PI heads AND the PI intake for under $1k???? I have never seen those parts so cheap. You couldn't even buy iron heads and an intake for the 5.0 that cheap.

Back when snowsl first wrote up the 99 head swap procedure, parts were cheap as hell for doing it. Heads were like two and some change, fully assembled. Intake was a hundred something. I know prices skyrocketed after it became popular, but I'm pretty sure they're still relatively cheap. I'll do some digging and try to find a list....

It's been about 8 months since I've looked at the head-swap stuff. Looks like there's a couple of dealers selling the complete packages for around $1200. That includes 01 heads and intake, as well as all hardware needed. They are the same as this package , only not the same crack-whore prices.

-edit-

Here's the part list:
1W7Z-6049-AARH Head RH (1)
1W7Z-6049-AALH Head LH (1)
YF7Z-6279-AA Cam Sproket Bolt (2)
1R3Z-9424-AAA "New" intake kit (1)
M-6067-D46 FRPP Head Change Kit (1)
XR3Z-18B402-AA Heater Hose

I am thinkin they still have the timing adjusters and underdrive pullies group buy goin on but I am not sure. The group buy was on stangnet in the 4.6 forum.

Thanks dude? I?m burgmanGT on stangnet. I do want to keep it fairly stock so I can keep the warranty and run F-Stock auto-x.

So what yer saying is John should go out and buy a 96 black\black, do the head swap, 4.10?s, and DR?s? Then come kick my stock azz back to Flowery Branch at the strip! THANKS STEVE wink

He?s nuts you know? I could see the gleam in his eye when I beat him (we raced all last year at the strip and I never once beat him). By the end of the season he will either have a 13 second contour or a Stang.

Seriously, good info ?

I thought that the FRPP head and intake where for the DOHC only! From the FR-500???? Whats up with the GT head and intake??? Is it the same as the Bullitt?

Also at those prices I would hit the Saleen Blower. That kit is pretty complete. If you register with team Saleen as I was reading the other day you get a 10% discount on parts! $3900 minus the $390. That a Bolt on S/C , injectors, fuel pump, PCM....

I think I should have bought a Stang! mad

There are two different FRPP heads. The original ones came out in 97 (I think), and were for the 2V (GT) block. They also included a new intake manifold, which is a 3-piece aluminum design. The 99+ PI heads are based loosely on this design. The Bullitt intake is essentially a trimmed down (cheaper) version of the FRPP piece with differently shaped ports to match the PI heads. The new FRPP heads are 4V, for the Cobra block. The intake for those heads isn't out yet, although they are compatible with the 99+ Cobra intake.

Your exactly right about the whole price thing and even though I have mustang I don't have the mustang mentality. I much rather cruise in my tour and have a good time. It seems like when I take my mustang out everyone wants too race and I am not about that. When I raced the mustang we ran for 7 tenths of a mile and at the end I was shifting into overdrive he wasn't pulling on me anymore. I still believe if you were to come up by one on the interstate while doing 80 and you downshift to third I don't think they would pull by much but interstates aren't safe places to race IMHO.
I totally agree ive owned 2 stangs and just bought a third 487rwhp. goin for a ride in it is like going out racing. cruisin in the other cars is much more enjoyable. btw nice videos guys looked like fun smile also work on those launches laugh its easy to get out of driving shape. wink

Sounds like a nice ride. Details? Year/body/motor/mods etc? 1/4 ET?

Very few of life's problems can not be solved with the reasonable application of more horsepower!
