Tires make a big difference, too. If I were to launch my car the way I do with stock tires, they'd spin themselves to vapor. Kudos to my Dunlops. They take punishment well.

If I had the fly weight of the S2000, it would be a totaly different story Originally posted by Officer Cartman: Hmm.. I don't think so
2000 Honda S2000 0-60: 5.2s 1/4: 13.8s @ 100 mph
You're gonna REALLY have to step up the Contour.. David Z's 280hp beast is only putting down a 14.08s 1/4, and I haven't seen any S/C ones in the 13s yet.
Too bad the car's so damn small, if you're over 6ft tall, it's just too tight.

$32K new for an S2000.. I've actually seen used ones as low as $22K on Auto Trader, with relatively low miles.

anybody can beat a s2000 if the driver of the s2k isn't ready. I've heard that if you launch at anything less then 7-8,000 rpm's you can only get a 8.5 sec 0-60. You can beat that time in a escort zx2. Its only those 7-8 grand launches that get the 5 second range 0-60 times. Unlike a bigger displacement (ie. V8) engine where you can make up for a missed launch with more throtle.
