Welcome to the photoshop club my friend. Ya the program isn't cheap, so any way you can get it cheaper is good (hint hint). Um so anyways... I am not aware of any begineer version, and if there is it would just hinder what you can do. Get a nice tutorial and just plow through it. Believe me the program is well worth gettin to know.

Uh I need a car?

Essentially a beginner's version... http://www.jasc.com/products/psp/

Half the stuff in Photoshop an amatuer does not need. CMYK color seperation.. last I checked that wasn't required for photochopping car pics or rezising photos. Most anything you would ever need to be done can be done in Paint Shop Pro. There's a shareware version, good for 30 days er somethin.

Photoshop wasn't designed for the average user, it's designed for people in the graphics business, that need a powerful tool to do their work.

If Adobe dropped the price to $100, like Paint Shop Pro, it'd probably sell a whole lot more copies (I know I'd buy it) and more than make up for the money they're losing by not selling it at $600.

no worries man, I personally don't care what you do on your own, but we can't as a forum condone software piracy, bad image, legal crap all that. (btw, why does everyone write Rara in all caps?? it always happens.)

It's all about balance.

Pretty much. Paintshop Pro can do alot of what Photoshop can do. If you notice the stuff that's missing, chances are you'd already own Photoshop.
