This is a pictoral recap of my day at the Tail of the Dragon , as told by one of my SVTOA buddies. Look for the complements of the Contour's capabilities by a Cobra driver no less! laugh

Forget video taping, you gots to drive it! You'll lose your lunch if you're behind a video camera!

I guess you guys didn't have time to hit the Skyway or the Foothills or any of the other roads around there? I was actually more impressed with the Skyway and the scenery than with the Dragon itself.

Running on a wet Dragon does suck. Running it in the dark sucks.

Glad someone else got to experience the Dragon... I can't wait until I get to go back next year!

Watcha talkin' about willis?

Running the dragon at night is just plain awesome. Highly dangerous, but highly recommended. Makes you feel like Colin McRae. Take a passenger too, he/she will enjoy it. wink

Running it wet/damp conditions is fun too. More slip-n-slide. Then again, if you slid too much...

Yeah, I'll go back next year too, but I'll be stopping at the 8 mile marker, as I ain't settn my foot in TN.

Yeah, it's pretty rough as a day trip from ATL, so we just did the Tail. We came up through Murphy on 129 and I went home on 28, which was beautiful with many twisties, although by that time I was getting tired. laugh

Do you guys know how many people the dragon bites a year? That is a very serious road, don't go there thining you will own it cuz it will bite you (p.s. I stay away from there on my bike cuz I know what will happen)

TONS of people! When we were there in October, it got one of the bikers that rode along with us! Only scratched the plastic in a few places, nothing too major. But it gets TONS! That resort in one of the pictures on the webpage has a tree with motorcycle parts nailed to it... tree of shame or something. Everyone that wrecks donates a piece of their bike to the tree.

The website is updated about every weekend telling tales of people that wrecked on the Tail.. There's AT LEAST one per weekend, usually more.

Know the limits of your machine *before* you go there and then back it off 10-20% minimum. Not the place to discover the limit's of your vehicle. laugh

Trust me I know the limits of myslef and all of my bikes (3 right now) and I am not going there. Too many variables down there from what I hear and riding the Dragon is just not worth it too me. I have been riding for 28 years (I am only 32) and I know where to stay away from. There are alot of better roads down there, but the dragon gets all of the attention.
