you are correct in the J- being for a section of the rule book of the FIA but J-3 was raced. (it was raced in its MKIV form) I agree with you on that one- the raced J-cars were actually never raced AS J-cars.
J-3 qualified for Daytona in 1967 but apparently did not start.
J-1 participated heavily in the LeMans test week end in April of 1966.
