Some parts are MkI and some are MkII+. Looks neat though. I would guess it is a kit. Love that car!!!

I get to see a real one tomorrow or the day after. As soon as "Horse's" boss brings it back from California.

Merlin, Definitely a "fake" or recent fabrication. All true GT-40s were right hand drive as they were intended for racing in Europe. Other incorrect details to be gleaned from your photos are modern electric cooling fans mounted on the radiator; a high rise, single four-barrel intake manifold; polished aluminum/stainless steel engine heat vent on the rear deck; modern era turn signals mounted in the front brake ducts with lexan covers; modern era wiper arm assembly just to name a few as there are probably others that I cannot discern from the photographs provided. I've only seen perhaps two or three original Ford GT's in my lifetime so far as obviously they are extremely rare & do not see the light of day all that often, many being in museums. Not to say even reproductions aren't in & of themselves pretty cool vehicles... Personally I've always wanted to build a GT-40 kit car, preferably one that was aesthetically authentic like an ERA, but with a late model 5.0 Mustang EFI drivetrain. I would also not attempt to disguise it as an original as I have already chosen my personalized license plate: FAKE 40. Now that I've revealed it, no one else is allowed to use it, comprende?

As far and my 1/4 mile time Just check the KC forum, kinda sad but I know all I need is some tuning... Originally posted by perry: Why do you always get to see all the cool cars???? Color me jealous!

yeah its definatly a fake- im a gt-40 nut- I should know- its a lot of what SVTContour said- also a clue are the filler caps- the real ones are a round top not almost flat like these ones- the car also sits a little high for a real gt-40. Has correct trigo halibrands- but those were used only on a few cars as the early MK III street cars had boranni wires and the later MKII and MKI had BRM knockoffs. - the NACA ducts are also fake- that would be a real problem on a real gt-40 as the driver would almost literally cook- gt-40's are terrible as to cooling for the cockpit. also the radiator evac scoop angle is not correct. it is also a MK II evac scoop on a MK I rear body section. Also many of the originals with this scoop had a small bulge at the traling edge to cover a spare tire required for many races, this one does not. well anyone who wants to see a real one and is in the northern Utah area stop by my work- www.kirkhammotorsports.com and you can see a few- we went to California this week end to pick up MK I # 1006 or #1009 I cant remember and we are negociating to buy a MK II and are negociating to obtain for a period of time a J-car (MK IV) of which only twelve were originally built and at least three destroyed. (others of which were Can-Am cars and dont even look like the GT-40 MK IV)

Horse, I've just briefly perused your website & came to the realization that it is your company whom I remember reading about in a long-since-discarded issue of AutoWeek.
At first I thought it was Superperformance who was building the Cobra replicas via a Polish aircraft plant, but now I am reminded that it was Kirkham.
I've always wondered whatever happened to that company profiled in AutoWeek. Now I know. Thanks.
