Cardoc, I would be interested to know where you got the info about crash requirements being the reason for not putting the 2.5L in the Focus. I was under the impression that there wsa a multitude of reasons, though one of them would be it was not expected to pass crash (though an actual crash test was never even remotely considered) Crash testing would actually be a minor reason for not using it, because that can be fixed fairly easily.
BTW, good looking Focus, very tastefully done. Can't wait to see it when all is finished. Since our previous discussions about my concerns on handling etc. I have had occasion to drive a Duratech powered focus, and some of my fears were correct, excessive understeer will be something you will have to deal w/, along w/ possible snap oversteer (didn't want to test this one, it wasn't my car, and I was on public roads) Also, pay VERY close attention to torque steer, especially on hard shifting, if you aren't ready for it, it can toss you into another lane far quicker than you would suspect.
It's all about balance.

Rara, I read that in an article about that Focus with the SVT Duratec only. Not the one with the standard Duratec in it. I'll find the page and either link it or paraphrase what was said.
You are right though.. It will be a fun but tricky to handle under full power Focus.

sweet, bill! looks good. love the wheels...and i actually like the silver center caps. did you replace the struts w/ the GC's, or are you running the stock ones for now (as you did w/ the eibach's on your SVT)?
i want to lower my RSX-S soooo bad....but there aren't any aftermarket struts out yet, and i don't want to pull everything twice....but, at least in a few months i'll have plenty of choices.

Looks good, Bill. Make sure you add about another 50-100lbs of spring rate to the front when you drop the big motor in to help tune out some understeer

I gotta ask the question... Why not this?? Less weight, no crash safety problems, some parts still under warranty, potential for more power & tq, etc...

Bill,
I was wondering when we'd hear from you. I was hoping you'd be willing to get together with some other atlanta area contour guys once you get the motor swap done....after going out to IP Tech last month for a mod day, a lot of guys are interested in your car and its performance. I'd like to see how the car pulls with the new cams...could be a good way for many of us to blow some tax refund $$$ this spring. Some of us are kinda waiting for your car to be complete (sorry for the guinea pig status) before we go forward with more mods....since the nature of the mods is so custom.....maybe we could all meet at IP Tech for a focus "unveiling."
Let me know what you think man. john_johnson3@hotmail.com

just a heads up about crash testing. I would be willing to bet that 90-95% of after market stuff would not pass crash testing for one reason or another, and particularly bodywork. Something can fail crash testing for any one of a thousand reasons, many of which would seem silly to most of the people on this board. So, I would hardly be frightened away from any thing like this over crash safety. I would however like to add, in general, never ever skimp on safety equipment.
Cardoc, I'm not sure how the differences between an SVT and regular duratec would matter at all here, but ok. I am very familiar with the SVT Focus V6 (aka "Chili Pepper") but would still be interested in the article you mentioned (was it the recent Hot Rod article? I haven't read that one yet.)
