Shaun G,
Considering the majority of those nationals are emmigrating illegally to become undocumented workers, perhaps attacking Mexico isn't such a bad idea... wink eek

Heheh. Guantanamo Bay is a thorn in Fidel's side. We got it during the Spanish-American War and never gave it back.

Did you know that Castro wasn't terribly interested in being a Commie? We didn't want to help him because Batista was making money for us, so Fidel went to the Sovs.

Ah, if only the Washington Senators had taken him on as a pitcher all those years ago...

We should take Castro off that list. I'm sure he's really sorry over that boatlift incident! smile

PackRat,
Funny you should mention the Mariel Boatlift, yet another foreign policy triumph of the Peanut Farmer Presidency.

A good friend of mine enlisted in the Coast Guard shortly after completing his Associates Degree at a local community college. He didn't have the $$$ to attend a full blown college to receive a Bachelor's degree, so the Coast Guard was his alternative plan.

Anyway, after completing basic training @ Cape May, NJ he was assigned to a cutter whereupon it was sent to Miami to assist in the Boatlift.

Needless to say he was not amused nor thrilled with this duty.
