These are not the same product that was sold previously. These are made by me personally out of my garage. I do alot of carbon fiber work and have not had any issues with the carbon fading and I have pieces that have been out since feb.

I have carbon fiber sideskirts, wing, and gas door on my Cougar and carbon sail panels, and gas door on the contour, i am doing carbon mirrors too for both cars. No problems at all with the resin.

To me it sounds like there was an issue with the material they used. They may have used prelaminated carbon fiber sheets and cut that to fit. Alot of the prelaminated carbon available is suited for interior use and not for exterior automotive.

I use raw carbon fiber fabric. It comes in a roll and then apply it to the piece using clear carbon resin. The pieces get 3-4 coats and then are wetsanded smooth and clearcoated 2 times with PPG automotive clearcoat. If there is ever a problem with my work I take care of it.

I am currently producing carbon fiber rally roof scoops for the new WRX for a company called Rally Performance. The materials I use are the real deal and I stand behind them. Any questions drop me an e-mail and I would be more than happy to talk with you.

To give you an idea of what i was talking about you can see prelaminated carbon fiber Here

This stuff is not designed for exterior use. It is designed for making interior trim pieces etc. I am not sure if that is what the previous sail panels were made of.

Ifthat would work it would be easy to make these things and not have so much time in wetsanding them to get them smooth and ready for clear.
