Well guys not ALL Contours stay totalled.
Just bought a 1998 SE (sorry.. it's got a 4 banger in it) for $3000, Has 34k on the OD. NOT badly damaged. (looks like it took a nose dive from under front bumber)I put a radiator,condensor(later),passenger side motor mount,and spline belt (A/C,Alt,WP belt)and DROVE it home from the Bone Yard!!
(I know that's not legal ... but smiled all the way home!!) I replaced windshield (broken from air bag not the crash) and removed the remains of them (the air bags).
They do NOT have to be replaced in a "rebuilt salvage titled vehicle in the state of OHIO :-)". Did some minor (in the driveway) realigning of the front fenders and nose (headlights,grill). Car had NO frame damage. Added Driving lights 50w, rear dome light(from 1996 Mystique) electric antenna, "blue bulb headlights".
With exception of the windshield I did all the other work, and it was "Born Again" on June 29th, 2001 by the Ohio State Patrol Salvage Inspection and it's now legally Titled and Tagged. BTW it"s colors are "light blue jean" out and "dark blue jean" in. Did a Detailed cleaning in/out and it looks like NEW! Not BAD for $3600 total outlay.. I'll visit my friendly bone yard soon for more "Ford" improvements at great prices!
