Thanks guys (and gals). After much hostility and threats, the warranty is now paid for and I get a new transmission. But not til next Thursday. Got a rental, though. Toyota Corolla. Woo hoo. Thrill-a-minute. But its an "S" model (which i think entails a large red "S" on the trunklid, a leather wheel w/red lacing, and a whole buncha noise from under the hood). These cars are agonizingly slow-can't wait for my 2.5 to get back so I can pass someone. Thanks again for the encouragement.

Good deal...suffer for a week in a toyota in exchange for a new trans. Test drove a corolla once...handling was mush and lack of any "road feel"...you probably added a 4 cyl automatic to that mix.
