I am in the middle of doing a mesh insert on our 99 Mystique. I cut out the center fins from the grill with heavy wire cutters,then dremmeled and sanded down the remaining high spots.Then I masked off the outside chrome ring and painted the area where the fins were black. Next I'm sending it to Performance Fords for a custom mesh insert($40).I hope to have some pics when it's done.
