98 and newer vehicles have an electronic traction control that only uses one cable from the pedal to the TB. That is why, on newer cars, the SVT TB can be retrofitted to non SVT vehicles, even if they are equipped with TC.

Actually, on my TC equipped SVT there is no extra hardware connected to the TB, just a direct cable from the pedal. Of course there are those unseen parts that complete the system. smile

This system does like many others whereby it grabs the brakes and also appears to reduce engine power as well to control slippage.

The reason why it doesn't lite up on the cars without it is the bulb is not included in those models... If you remove the instrument cluster you'll see that there is no bulb in that socket.. No bulb- No lite.. Simple.. And yes, I believe that the ABS module has to be programmed to turn the TC on.. It's not just a switch and go or it would be on all the time.. Not just when adding the switch.

TC overrides the throttle position by 'backing off' the gas,the pedal will'move' under your own right foot when TC is operating,it goes to a 'drive by wire' mode. The only way the throttle is moved ,without your right foot is by 1)Cruse control module 2)If you have it ,TC throttle body actuactor (hardware)
