hey everyone.

i bought my 99 from Bob Gillingham Ford.

based on a couple service related visits there, i have been unimpressed with their service. from little things such as boot grease on my interior & leaving sail panels hanging loose... to the hassle i had when my rear sway bar bushing hardened up. i was getting a bad knock from there, and it took a LOT of pushing to get them to do -anything-, and then they finally started throwing parts at it. after replacing rear struts, they decided to lift the car with suspension under compression (i forget the right name for this) and of course, bingo, they can tell the bushings aren't holding the bar tight anymore.

good luck with gillingham...

also, due to my poor view of dealer service, i have always done my oil changes myself. what if i throw a rod? how can i prove that i've changed the oil every 3k?? frown

My stock, never-raced (OK, well once at 1000 miles) 98 E0 SVT lost the bottom end 2 months ago at 86k miles. Religious oil changes at 5000 (using Mobil 1 and Pure One filter). No warranty, so I went 3.0! My dealership quoted me $3800 for a FRPP 2.5L (VIN G - SVT) motor, but I've seen items here from people that waited 2-3 months for a motor out of Ford. I checked and rebuilt engines are running $1500-$2500.

You may wish to retract that statement...

Liberty Ranked 14th out of 15 dealers in the North East Ohio Area in service based on customer surveys givin out by Ford. I have known two cars to go there for warranty work come out Damaged form techs. First was a broken window on a T-bird, friend took it in for the 3.8 motor recall, got it back 3 months later with a crack going from the lower driver side all the way to the middle and spydering from there. Second was a co-worker getting a recall on the Expedition trailer bolts, got it back with a dent in the rear quarter from the INSIDE OUT yet....right were those bolts unscrew at and Liberty Denied both claims saying they must have been there....

Isn't Liberty Ford in Liberty Ohio?

(Sorry . . . hadta go there . . . those commercials are SO annoying.)

FWIW-- I got my SVT from Mullinax East and am thoroughly impressed with their service. It had one of those find-anything-wrong-in-the-first-so-many-weeks-and-we'll-fix-it warranties. Heard some noise in rear and took it in-- sway bar mount was bad. I got it back and they had done 'em all the way 'round, plus some odds 'n ends that they found and made right all on their own.

Very impressed.

Gillingham called me yesterday. Told me, I should have my clutch replaced while they were at it (only had to pay for the parts). I went down to see how bad it was and that's when I saw her!!! My god they ripped everything out! Everything up front and the exhaust was gone too. Just a big hole and two calipers hanging. I was like damn every moving part was gone. I hope they can put it back together. With my luck I know I'm screwed.............. eek

Been there - it's pretty upsetting to see all the good stuff out of your car, and suspension parts hanging from the body. You will get the good kharma you are owed (for having to see the car like that) when you get back in and start it up after it's all done.

Monday I saw my car spread out all over the garage and I was told the parts for the clutch would not be in till Tuesday. Wednesday afternoon they called and told me my car was ready. I almost choked. She sounded good but my peddle and shifter have a completely different feel. The only things that pissed me off was that my car was completely empty of gas and my new engine had coolant all over it. The mechanic said he had an accident and forgot to clean it up!..... guess this story is over..... eek confused
